There are times when I get that feeling that I need to try something new, more often than I would like, but I have been itching lately to try Huda Beauty and so it began…
You’ve probably noticed that like mine, your Instagram feed is probably flooded with Huda Beauty makeup pictures from beauty gurus so yes, I’ve been thinking about Huda Beauty lately.
I finally realized that it was probably a sign from the gods for me to get the lipsticks and Huda Beauty walked into my life!
So of course, I want to share my swatching experience with my lovely readers!
Was that a mistake? Well keep on reading to find out!
There are four editions of the liquid matte minis and I decided to try the darkest shades first in the Red Edition just because if the darker shades didn’t work out then it would be very unlikely that the lighter shades would work on me.
So how did they turn out?
There are four shades in the liquid matte minis from Huda Beauty that you can use on their own or combine them to create a custom lip color.
The colors are:
Heartbreaker – (man-eating pinkish red)
Material Girl – (Fierce Plum)
Showgirl – (Pinkish undertones)
Famous – ( Deep burgundy )
Cost – $33
These shades right off the bat pack a punch when it comes to pigmentation but I also like that the colors are buildable.
Heartbreaker on my skin tone was definitely an intense shade of red that immediately commanded attention and I loved it.
The formula is easy to apply and quick to dry, plus this smelled really good.
Material Girl is also a stunning purple, plum color. One of my other favorite plum shades is from ABH in Grape Jelly but in matte form. The application wasn’t as easy as the Heartbreaker as it got a little sticky and took a little bit longer to dry. Nonetheless, the shade was also pigmented.
Showgirl was deifinitely the most unique shade from the set. I noticed that there was a slight metallic or shimmery finish (it could’ve just been my eyes) to it that gave it some depth.
Famous was hands down my second favorite shade from this edition.
It’s a deep burgundy wine color on my skin tone and would make a great dramatic makeup look.
So for my Custom Lip Color I applied Material Girl on the center of my lips over famous to create somewhat of an Ombre look. After that I applied Show Girl to give it a little sheen and the shade turned out to be an even deeper burgundy, almost vampy look that was also very stunning.
I was definitely satisfied with this set and will be looking forward to swatching more shades from Huda Beauty.
