Zara has launched some of the most comfortable and weightless matte lipsticks I have ever tried.
The fashion brand recently dropped it’s Ultimatte and High Matte liquid lipstick collection along with matching Line It Up lip liners.
You can check out the review on the Behind the Scenes Kit to see swatches of one the Line It Up lip liner and the Hi Matte liquid lipstick.
The lipsticks came in a very colorful box with each lipstick containing 0.12 oz.
The lipsticks all have that uniform navy color with that very soft to the touch packaging that gives you traction and allows for easy grip.
All the ultimatte lipsticks are only good for 6 months, unfortunately, so you’ll have to make sure that you use them up regularly.
All the lipsticks were highly pigmented and and had a slight candy like smell to them. They were also very creamy and easy to apply.
Knowing that these were selected by Pat McGrath, they make an awesome budget friendly set with great quality.
They are however, not the best long lasting lipsticks that I have tried. They do provide some type of moisture for being a matte lipstick but they also do transfer as well.
You’ll have to make sure that you carry it with you to reapply as needed throughout the day.
Both the Behind the Scenes Lip Kit and the Ultimatte Trio Kit contain the shade UM01.
Whether you’re aa makeup junkie who just loves to hoard lipsticks or someone who is just looking to get into lipsticks, this is a perfect set to try as it contains universally flattering colors that should compliment most skin tones.
There is a neutral, more girl next door shade as a well as a bold berry shade that makes statement. They’re all super pigmented and moisture rich and perfect to wear in the cold and drying winter months.
Glitter lips have definitely been one of this year’s trends and it’s even more popular as we near the holidays. It’s no secret that everyone wants to put their best glitter looks forward, from outfits to makeup at the holiday parties because everything is better with glitter and lips are no exception.
Ciaté London’s Limited Edition Holographic lipstick shades are a quick fix and budget friendly option for perfect glitter lips this season.
The set features two lipsticks with metallic formulation that will have you ready for party season. One of the lipsticks is their best selling shade Candy and the other is Infamous Holographic.
The instructions are quite simple. It calls for one coat of the lipstick that you are suppose to leave on for one minute to dry and then press lips together until you get your desired amount of glitter.
The way it works is that when you press your lips together it transforms the lipstick into a 3D glitter magic that is pretty awesome to watch.
If you do not want too much glitter then just press your lips together once. If you want to be extra, then press your lips together multiple times and that will consistently reveal more and more glitter until you are satisfied with the amount of glitter.
The result is a dazzling, festive look that will be sure to turn heads.
This is a beautiful light pink shade with subtle hints of mauve.
As you can see you cannot tell that there is glitter in the lipstick from the swatch. That’s because the magic happens when the lipstick is rubbed. It’s only then that the glitters appear.
This shade is described as a berry tone but it swatched a little lighter than berry on my skin tone but still a very beautiful color.
On my complexion it almost comes off as a brick color with some red tones and brown tones in there.
I was satisfied with just a little bit of glitter so I only pressed my lips together a few times.
The best part about these lipsticks is that you can control the amount of glitter that you want to be revealed so you’re completely in control of the end result.
Both shades were equally flattering but Candy for me felt a tad bit more drying than Infamous. This can easily be fixed by applying a clear high shine top coat over the lipstick so you get some moisture without hiding the sparkling glitter.
If you’re not a fan of matte lipsticks then these gorgeous holiday lip glosses from Anastasia Beverly Hills are a great option for sparkling holiday lips.
After trying out Fenty Beauty’s Snow Nights collection, I realized that some metallics with very good formula can be very flattering on the lips. I was on a quest to try other brands which brings me to my next metallic lipstick purchase from a Black Radiance.
Black Radiance is the newest brand to my collection. One thing that I always try to incorporate into my makeup collection is newer brands as often times you can find good quality for less than half the price compared to other major brands.
The lipsticks come in a nicely packaged gold box with a bold font.
It then flips open to reveal the three Perfect Tone Metallic Matte Lip Crémes in Bronze, Copper and Rose Gold as well as the hashtag ‘blackgirlmagic’ which I thought was pretty awesome as this is a black owned brand.
I was amazed at how affordable the lipsticks were at less than $10 for the kit. Apart from a few drugstore metallic lipsticks like Wet N Wild, that price was unbeatable, especially for three lipsticks.
Now let’s get into the lipsticks:
Like the name states, this color is everything bronze and more. Just pigmented and beautiful.
I was amazed at how beautifully this shade reflected in the light.
This color has gorgeous reddish brown hues that is perfect for the holidays.
This is such a beautiful mauve shade that would compliment most skin tone.
Metallics are definitely not your everyday lipsticks. We may all know that metallic lipsticks can either be a hit or miss for most of us mostly because they are often not the most flattering on the lips. They can sometimes be very drying which makes for a very unattractive look. Normally wearing a clear gloss on top helps with the dryness.
One thing that you have to keep in mind if you plan on wearing metallic lipsticks is that you have to exfoliate your lips and keep them well hydrated and moisturized as unlike other lipsticks metallics may not be that forgiving.
Overall these were great lipsticks and can be comparable to some higher end brands. The best part about them for me was how complimentary they were to my skin tone. Also the metallics were present but did not overwhelmingly stand out.
Weightless and comfortable on the lips
Amazing light reflection
Dried super fast and did emphasize some of the lines in my lips
Pat McGrath is one of the most well known makeup artist in the world and her makeup is like a prized possession for many.
When Pat McGrath lipsticks became available in minis I jumped at the opportunity and got myself a pack of the Colour Blitz Mini Matte Trance. One of her lipsticks go for $38 so I was shook when I saw that she had minis available for $25. That was definitely a steal for me.
M.A.C. Cosmetics has clearly made a name for itself when it comes to red lipsticks as their cult favorite blue red Ruby Woo is favorited by many including myself, so when it comes to red hues we trust M.A.C. wholeheartedly.
Nyma Tang is a well known South Sudanese Beauty YouTuber who recently dropped a collaboration with M.A.C. Cosmetics. Nyma gave us a sneak peek of her creation on her Instagram back in January of herself in M.A.C Cosmetics’ Lab formulating her lipstick.
What made Nyma Tang so popular and relatable is that she frequently discusses the everyday struggles for women of darker complexion to find basic makeup staples like foundations, concealers, lipsticks, just to name a few, that will compliment their skin tone and made sure that this lipstick is one that is universally flattering for every skin tone. And that she did!
Nine months later, the Nyma Tang lipstick was born and can now be purchased on M.A.C Cosmetics website. It’s a gorgeous red with warm undertones and a matte finish that’s right up my alley.
We can all agree that Colourpop is one of the most budget friendly brands out there that offer quality products. This is a brand that I could surely purchase from all day long and if they were to ever go away I would never be able to stretch my coins the way I do right now.
If you agree and if you’ve got a minute, then you’ll want to keep on reading.
I’ve been wanting to try out something different from MAC to switch it up a little bit and keep it fresh so I did some research on makeup lovers favorite lipsticks from MAC whether old or new and I can’t believe what I found!
There was a Riri Woo Lipstick!
How come I did not know about this?
This was a collaboration done back in 2013 with Rihanna as part of a holiday collection. This came up on my search as a favorite by many and I was floored because I missed out.
Riri Woo, like Ruby Woo is also a retro matte finish but with a much cooler undertone.
I definitely have my go to shades from MAC which are my red retro matte Ruby Woo, Lady Danger, one of the hottest orange shades and All Fired Up, my favorite pink.
These shades have complimented my skin tone in the best way possible and they are gonna be in my collection until they’re discontinued, hopefully not. The struggle…
I wonder if I can still get my hands on this Riri Woo lipstick?
The next shade that came up is Instigator which is a more current shade. It’s a deep plum color which is more fall appropriate but fall is right around the corner so it wouldn’t be so bad to get it now. I’ll keep this one on my list for now.
I still cant believe I did not know about the Riri Lipstick!
