For only a few coins you can get Instagram ready looks with the new Colourpop California Love Ultra Blotted Lip Collection. It’s no secret that Colourpop’s ultra blotted lipsticks have been faved by so many.

Like their Lippie Stix, their ultra blotted formula formula is known to be one of the most comfortable to wear as it dries matte but feels like air on the lips. They have a wide variety of color options to suit every need an occasion.

Their latest ultra blotted lip comes with the California Love Collection that features an eyeshadow palette, six ultra blotted lips and two mascaras. Of course I went and snagged all the colors from the collection.

Because I already own several of the ultra blotted lipsticks from Colourpop, I knew this was going to be an easy purchase for me because I do like the formula overall.

If you’re not sure if you’re going to like the ultra blotted lipsticks you can always try their Strike Twice mini sample set which includes all the different lipstick finishes from Colourpop which includes, glossy glosses, ultra mattes, ultra satin and ultra blotted. It’s a great way to find out which formula you don’t like and which ones you prefer.

The lipsticks came in a peach colored packaging with gold font and palm trees which is definitely reflective of the whole ‘California Love’ theme. You can’t talk about California without mentioning traffic and palm trees so I thought that the palm trees represented the theme of the collection well.

The colors range from nudes to purples, reds and some with a peachy, coral undertone as well which I think is quite fitting for summer.

What makes this lipstick so great is that it gives you a perfectly imperfect diffused effect. It’s not suppose to be pigmented at all and that is one of the reasons why some people are turned off by it. If you’re looking for a knockout bold color then you will want to try the ultra mattes instead of the ultra blotted.

The lipstick has a soft, powdery dry matte feeling that is not as uncomfortable as an ultra matte. At the end of the day it is still a matte lipstick so preparing your lips ahead of time with a lip scrub and lip balm helps for a seamless application and also helps your lipstick to last a lot longer.

As we get deeper into the sunny summer days these ultra blotted lipsticks will make the perfect piece to finish your makeup look. You can enjoy your long summer days carefree and worry free as these will not budge or flake.

Of course if you’re eating oily foods this will inevitably remove the lipstick and not have it lasts as long but for the most part these definitely make the list for must summer have lipsticks.

The best part about these lipsticks as well is that because they have a sheer, blotted finish you can always layer them to the intensity that you desire. You just have to make sure that each layer is dried before applying another layer because this will lead to patchiness which is very unattractive.

At the end of the day, these can also have your lips feeling a bit more dryer after you’ve worn them for so long so I always have a lip balm or chapstick that I put on top whenever I start to feel that dryness creeping in.
