We all know that Colourpop is notorious for releasing products every time we breathe but seriously, that is not an exaggeration. One thing I could say is that Keeping up with Colourpop is like Keeping Up With the Kardashians, there’s always something to talk about. I guess they’ve all got to stay relevant somehow right?

Anyways, this always happen to me whether I’m shopping at Sephora or at Ulta but the checkout line is like a danger zone. If you actually frequent these stores as much as I do I’m pretty sure you can relate to this.

The checkout line is where they have all the mini and travel sets of makeup and skincare and is literally the area that would tempt me to spend an extra $50.

So I’m guessing by now you know how this story ended, yes I picked up the Colourpop Strike Twice Mini Lipstick Collection at Ulta. So, now I’m going to try and justify this purchase, yes it’s an important part of my decision process…who am I kidding? but I still go through with the conversation in my head anyways.

I picked up the set and actually liked that my first impression was that they all seemed to be pretty muted, natural looking colors which I don’t mind. You can never have too many nude lipsticks.

I then read the shades and the different finishes which I was actually impressed by. The collection contains five liquid lipsticks: two Ultra Glossy, an Ultra Blotted, Ultra Satin and Ultra Matte.

I thought this was like the perfect sample set to keep around not only for me but for those who are looking to try the brand for the first time, but seriously, I would be shocked if no one has tried Colourpop before because they have blown up in such a way where you could even get arrested if you say you haven’t heard about the brand. I’m just saying! The Colourpop Cult Life is real and they’re gonna come for you!

Each mini lipstick contains 0.64g of product which I think is pretty decent. If used on a daily basis it could last you at least a few months or even more.

The Ultra Glosses were of course a bit more sheer but still beautiful with tiny shimmers that you don’e even feel. I hate when I can literally feel glitters in glosses. It’s the one thing that drives me nuts!

Fantasia

Fantasia was more of a natural nude where as Champagne Mami had a little bit more color, more on the orange side, but sheer.

The Ultra Blotted lipstick, Zuma, reminded me of my Flesh Beauty Swipe Flesh Lip Colors where it had that lightweight, powder like finish that literally felt like air on my lips. I also liked that the color was a really pretty pink that looked natural and effortless.

Magic Wand, the Ultra Satin Lip , was also very comfortable to wear. I thought it was a little bit too light for my complexion but nothing a dark lip liner can’t fix

Take A Pixie is the Ultra Matte Lip which was also the darkest shade from the collection. It swatched almost like a brick red color that was also very gorgeous, however I found the formula to be not as comfortable, which honestly is expected when it comes to ultra matte lips.

It’s normally very challenging to find an ultra matte lipstick that doesn’t leave your lips feeling bone dry and exposing every line and dry spot on your lips.

What I did to help with the dryness was apply one of the Ultra Glosses on top and that helped a lot with the uncomfortable feeling.

Overall though I think the set is worth it. It’s a great way to try Colourpop’s different formulas and lipstick finishes. The collection is like a buffet, you get a sample of a little bit of everything so knock yourself out!
