I’ve tried quite a few drugstore lipsticks but el.f. wasn’t one of them.
My usual purchases from e.l.f include brushes, contour and blush set as well as their lip balms and lip exfoliators so yeah, I have to admit that to me it’s a decent drugstore brand as I frequently purchase their products.
New to my list of e.l.f products is their liquid matte lipsticks. They come in eleven different shades and I purchased four of them online from Ulta.
Like many, finding the right shade of nude lipstick is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Pretty much near impossible. At one point they even had us checking out or nipples for the right shade. That’s how serious this nude lipstick situation has become.
The cosmetics industry has come a long way when it comes to perfecting a nude shade that will compliment most skin tones. I’ve created a list of my favorite nude lipsticks that weren’t necessarily perfect but got pretty close.
We all know of those nude lipsticks that make us look like we just walked out the cemetery but the choices from this list did everything but that. Some may need a little bit more tweaking than others with some lip pencils but these worked out great for me.
The story goes that ABH is on top of the list when it comes to makeup so of course I wanted to investigate for myself.
I have actually tried ABH in the past and I have to admit that their makeup is a force to be reckoned with. I tried their summer lip gloss set and I was very happy with them. The colors were absolutely gorgeous and I still frequently wear them to this day.
I recently picked up the Mini Matte Lipstick Set at Sephora a few weeks back because I wanted to see if they were as good as the lip gloss.
I tried that looking at your nipple thing to find your perfect nude shade and that didn’t do it for me so I’m back to doing things the old fashioned way.
Trying on a million and one nude lipstick until I find a winner.
I wish I had that super power of knowing if a nude lipstick would work for me without trying them first because as of late, I’ve been through several nude lipsticks that I purchased that I had to kick to the curb.
Not really! I’m not wasting my money like that.
You best believe that I will do everything in my power to make that nude lipstick that’s ten shades lighter than me work before I resort to throwing it out.
If you’ve been struggling to find the right nude lipstick as of late it might be because you’re looking in the wrong place. Experts have now discovered that you can find your perfect nude lip shade by looking at the color of your nipple. Yes!, your nipple folks!
What they’re claiming is that the shades of the nipple naturally compliments your skin tone and therefore you should look for a shade that is similar to compliment your lips as well. Check out the video below for proof.
This is the latest and one of the most interestingly bizarre beauty rage that has hit the fashion industry. Now, I’ve heard and seen a lot of weird things in the beauty industry but this one definitely took the cake for me.
Now what am I suppose to tell the salesperson when I’m out shopping for a nude lipstick? Am I suppose to just whack out my tits and say “I’m looking for this color nude lipstick?”
Who all are gonna give this trend a try? Comment below and let PuckerUpBabe know. XOXO
In my experience I’ve always found it hard to pull off nude lipsticks because I feel like they wash me out, which I’m sure is almost always the case for women with darker complexion, but as determined as I am, I’m always on a quest for I will not be defeated by the nudes.
My latest buy is Totally Toffee 215 by Maybelline. I’ve tried a few in the past and this shade seems to work best for my skin tone. It has a very smooth and creamy texture which I also find very moisturizing. On my skin tone it’s almost the same shade as my NYX Mauve Lip Gloss minus the glossy finish. This lipstick looks amazing when worn with bold smoky eyes for a date night or tone it down for a more natural look for the office. You can easily dress it up or down depending on the occasion or the setting.
If you’re new to wearing nude lipsticks then you might have to go through several trials and error like I did before I found a shade that I was satisfied with. When you finally find one that works for you just make sure to stock up on the shade in case it gets discontinued. Don’t you hate that? Try it out and let me know what you think. Puckers to you, xoxo.
