The Augmented Reality technology has been slowly popping up online where different beauty companies use the technology on their website to give you a real time, interactive view of how a certain product will swatch on your skin tone.

Going to the mall to try on makeup and do lipstick swatches is now a thing of the past. You can now do swatches online from the comfort of your own home. It gives you a real time experience that in a sense expands your physical world.

YouTube definitely saw the power in this technology and has finally jumped on the bandwagon. Honestly there is no better place to use this technology than on a platform like YouTube, where there is a massive beauty community and audience.

MAC Cosmetics partnered with Roxette Arisa, a Beauty YouTuber, to let you try on the lipsticks as she reviews and swatches them. A convenient SHOP button is also provided at the bottom of the video in the event that you decide to purchase the lipstick.

Click on the video to watch it, make sure that your phone is in portrait mode, and then click the TRY ON button on the bottom right corner of the video.

You will then be prompted to hit the OK button at the bottom of the video once your screen looks like the picture below:

When you click OK your screen will separate into two where you can try on the different lipstick shades in real time.

I did find this to be a very helpful and fun experience that I was even able to find a couple shades that I thought looked really great on me.

This is a great way to enhance the customer experience as hundreds and thousands of people watch YouTube beauty videos everyday in an attempt to see how different products swatch and now you can also be a part of that experience.

The only downfall to this, of course, is that you will not be able to tell the texture and smell of the product or know how well it applies so you might still have to make a stop at the beauty counter, but at least you will already have inside knowledge of how the color looks on you so it saves you a step.
