Just when I thought I had it all when it comes to cream lip stains, I realized that I was missing out on a cult favorite from Sephora Collection, their cream lip stain.
I’ve heard and read so much about these lip stains that I had to find out for myself if I was actually missing out on something.
I purchased the mini cream lip stain set from Sephora that features four of their best selling shades. Keep on reading to see how they swatched.

Sephora Collection Mini Cream Lip Stains:
43 Crimson Crush
01 Always Red
40 Pink Tea
38 Sweet Raspberry
These cream liquid lip stains come in full sizes and are available in both a matte and metallic finish and there are over 75 shades available in the matte finish and 12 shades in the metallic finish. Check out the available colors here.
The shades that I will be swatching are all matte finishes.
Crimson Crush
This is a beautiful burgundy brown color that is great to pair with Fall outfits.
The applicator of these lip stains holds a bit more product than I would like but the coverage is amazing and it sits and dries comfortably into a matte finish.
It definitely swatched ore brown than red on my skin tone but it’s still a great color.
Always Red
Unlike the blue reds that I’m used to, this color swatched more of a bright cherry red on my skin tone.
Pink Tea
This one is a good nude color but not for my skin tone. The only thing I noticed with this shade is that it was a tad bit more drying than the other shades and sunk into my fine lines as well.
Sweet Raspberry
This is a gorgeous fuschia shade with a great color pay off.
Were these best lip stains I’ve ever tried? Absolutely not! They are however, incredibly pigmented. I just found that the formula was not consistent across the different shades. I do find that I prefer Essence’s Lip and Colour Shot formula a lot better plus the price was way more affordable at $4. The full size lip stains go for $14.
Pros:
- Huge selection of colors available
- Super pigmented
- Decent Staying Power for most shades
Cons:
- Some shades can be a bit more drying
- Formula is a little too thick and heavy
- Takes a bit more time to dry fully matte
