When I know I’m going to be on a romantic night out I always find myself reaching for the same lipsticks time and again. Depending on the setting of the date, whether casual or fancy, I like to have my attire and makeup fit the setting and the overall mood.

Pinks, reds and nudes are the shades that I normally reach for when I know it’s date night. A red lip is like the statement color for date night, so it’s no surprise that a red shade is on my list.

When I wear a red lip I feel sexy, confident and in control and that’s why I’m starting my list with my favorite red lip for date night.

MAC Ruby Woo

Ruby is an oldie but goodie of mine that gives you that classic, timeless red lip. I hope it never gets discontinued because it is one of the most flattering red lipsticks that I have ever worn, and because it’s a blue-red lipstick, it compliments almost all skin tones.

I love that it’s a shade of red that I can wear in the daytime or nigh time and still look appropriate. Some red lipsticks can be too bold for daytime but Ruby Woo has the perfect matte finish where the color is bold but muted enough not to look too over the top.

Ruby Woo can be very drying as it’s an ultra matte formula, but it is all worth it! As long as you prep your lips before hand and wear a little lip balm under the lipstick, you will be set for a beautiful date night and not have to worry about your lipstick smearing.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick Date 

A great pinky nude lipstick is another essential lip color when it comes to date night. They are usually perfect for a more casual laid back scene for maybe burgers and beer.

A lipstick of this color is always easier to maintain especially when you plan on grubbing all night and eating greasy food. No one will notice if it transfers or smears and you can easily pull out your hand mirror and touch up afterwards, something that you can’t really do if you’re wearing a bold, red lipstick.

Flower Beauty Petal Pout Lipstick Spiced Petal

Flower Beauty has become one of my favorite drugstore lips when it comes to comfort. Spiced Petal is a gorgeous natural nude lipstick with a slightly peach undertone that gives me that my lips but better kind of look.

It’s also not scented which is great for those who have sensitivity issues. I like to wear this out on super casual date nights like a casual stroll on the boardwalk at the beach. It’s the perfect shade for that effortlessly beautiful look. You can also get a lot of kisses with this and not have the color smear all over your boos face.
