How to Care for Damaged Lips from Wearing Too Much Liquid Lipsticks

September 24, 2018 10 Comments

Liquid lipsticks have been on the rise and they’re not gonna go anywhere anytime soon. Liquid lipsticks tend to have a matte or even ultra matte, even dryer, finish that can put a number on our lips.

Some of us have become obsessed with wearing lipsticks and refuse to put it down so how do we care four our lips after wearing too many liquid lipsticks?

1. Stay Hydrated

It’s important that we drink enough fluids throughout the day so that we’re hydrated from the inside out. The skin in general is more susceptible to dryness if there is a lack of fluid.

2. Use a lip Scrub

You can either make this one on your own with some brown sugar and olive oil or purchase one like elf’s lip scrub, but exfoliating the lips is absolutely necessary so as to remove any dry, peeling skin. Check out these popular cult favorite scrubs.

3. Apply a moisturizing Balm

After gently scrubbing off all the dry skin you would want to apply a moisturizing balm or mask like Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask. This helps to nourish your lips and help them to stay moisturized.

4. Use a Lip Oil

After applying your lip mask, apply a layer of lip oil to seal in the moisture and keep them supple. Lip oils that contain essential oils such as tea tree oil are even better as they contain healing properties that are helpful if the lips are not only dry, but cracked as well. A favorite of mine is from Butter London.

Repeat these steps daily especially at night to help to reduce the dryness and prevent any further damage.
