Though I love the holidays and the awesome, cheery mood that everyone is in, one of the things that make it less enjoyable for me is the dry air that wreaks havoc on my skin.

Like many people, I struggle with keeping my skin hydrated throughout the year especially during the cold winter months. Having a good skin care routine is essential to me combating my dryness, so I was super excited when Good Molecules reached out to me to try out their skin care.

Good Molecules, a Beautylish brand, is a fairly new affordable skin care line with a wide array of products that cater to people suffering from different skin issues. I expressed to them that one of my main skin issue is dryness and they ended up sending me a few of their products to help with my dry skin situation.

Firstly, let’s talk about the packaging – who doesn’t love a good packaging? I like that their packaging is colorful, fun and not so serious.

Many of the times I find that skincare packaging can be quite boring when taking care of your skin should be a fun and relaxing time. The colors definitely motivate me to want to take the time to properly care for my skin everyday.

Even though it’s a more affordable brand, their products use clean ingredients and are free from harmful products like mineral oil, silicones, fragrance and infused with the good stuff like vitamin E and shea butter.

Products I tried and tested:

1. Good Molecules Instant Cleansing Balm

A good cleansing balm is one of the first steps to achieving great skin. I need something that effectively removes makeup, sweat and germs from my skin and I find this balm to work very well.

Ingredients: Shea Butter, Camellia Oil, Buckhorn Oil

It comes with a spatula that I use to scoop the product out so as not to contaminate the entire jar. I usually just use one generous scoop but a little goes a very long way.

I rub it in my hands so the heat from my hands can melt the balm, and then I rub it all over my face and watch my makeup melt away.

Some cleansing balms irritate and burn my eyes but this one is so gentle yet powerful, as it totally removed my makeup. Another thing that I liked is that it did not leave a film on my face or made my skin feel stripped. It leaves my skin feeling clean and soft, and ready for serum which takes us into our next step.

2. Super Peptide Serum

After I’ve cleansed my face, I like to bring a little brightness and life back into my face and this is the step where I use the Super Peptide Serum.

Ingredients: Tri-peptides
Size: 1 FL OZ

This serum particularly helps to bring that youthful glow back into your skin after it has be cleansed. It also claims to remove fine lines and wrinkles. The formula is unscented and clear with a medium consistency where it’s heavier than water but lighter than oil.

I use this serum day and night right after I have cleansed my face. The instructions says to leave it on for 30 seconds before applying another product.

What I like about this serum is that it is not heavy and it does not leave my skin feel greasy. I only use one drop of it and massage it all over my face, particularly focusing on my t-zone area which is the driest part of my face.

I can say that it does remove any dullness that I had from cleansing, but since I don’t have any obvious wrinkles yet I cannot tell if it will help to reduce any fine lines. I would have to get back to you on that one in about 30 years or so.

3. Niacinamide Serum

After that step I apply another serum which claims to refine texture and minimize pores. This is the Niacinamide Serum.

Ingredients: 10% Niacinamide (vitamin B3)

This serum can also be used day and night which I did before any creams or moisturizers. I also only used one drop of the serum and massaged it into my face.

As far as noticing if my skin texture was refined, I mostly focused on my problem t-zone area where my skin would flake off from dryness and though it flaked off less, the texture in that area did not change.

So it could be that I have prolonged skin damage in my t-zone and maybe only a miracle could save it. I would say though that the serum worked well on the rest of my face. I like that it absorbed immediately without leaving a greasy residue.

4. Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer

One of the things that is important to me in my skin care regime is a good moisturizer. To be honest, no skin care routine is complete without one.

Ingredients: Shea Butter, Macadamia Seed Oil

The moisturizer was sent later and separately from the other products, so I didn’t get to test it out for the same amount of time that I did the others, but one of the things that I noticed was that it was unscented and very lightweight.

I really like how this silicone-free moisturizer absorbs into my skin leaving it feeling soft and supple. I also used it day and night in my routine and was super impressed by the quality and finish of it.

There’s nothing worse than having a heavy and greasy moisturizer under your makeup or before going to bed. I like that this one absorbs immediately without the slippery and greasy feeling.

5. Ultra-Hydrating Facial Oil

The last step to my skin care routine is always with a good oil to seal everything in. This step I only do at night before bed time.

I think this Ultra-Hydrating Facial Oil is one of the main things that helped with the dryness in my t-zone. When I apply this at night I wake up with the softest, most revived skin ever.

After cleaning, serums and moisturizers, I apply one drop into my hands and massage in my t-zone area and spread the remainder around the rest of my face. I honestly believe it does wonders.

I literally look forward to waking up and feeling how soft and refreshed my skin looks and feel.

Feedback

Overall, Good Molecules is definitely changing the skin care game with not only affordable products, but clean and effective affordable products. After a month of using the products, apart from the moisturizer (it’s only been like a couple weeks), I can honestly say that I have seen subtle changes. Nothing drastic, but it has certainly improved certain problem spots that always made me self conscious. Hopefully after using it for about three months then I’d be able to see more obvious changes but for now I am satisfied with the small changes that I’ve been seeing and how soft and hydrated my skin feels after using the products.

I would give Good Molecules a thumbs up and would definitely recommend to others looking for quality skin care without breaking the bank.
