It can be a pretty scary thought when it comes to buying makeup and lipstick only to realize that it wasn’t what you expected to be. Many of us don’t have confidence in cheaper brands just because they usually turn out to be a waste of money. [Read more…]
I did a review on my last post about Sweet Nectar from Milani’s Color Statement Collection and today I’m reviewing the color Naturally Chic. If you’d like to know what I thought of this color then read on…
Naturally Chic is like a brownish pinkish neutral color that is meant to give you that subtle, natural look. It’s definitely not the color for you if you’re looking for something bright and bold. It’s meant to give you that effortlessly chic look that’s not too over the top. It’s a color that is definitely suitable for the office but will do just as well for cocktail hour at the bar. Get it on Amazon.
When I first opened the cap for this lipstick the first thing that I noticed was the smell. It had the most wonderful smell that was kinda fruity but not overwhelmingly so that it would turn you off.
It also had a very creamy finish and smooth texture that glide on easily. This lipstick was also very moisturizing compared to Sweet Nectar that had a matte finish that dried out the lips and settled on the dry patches. I did not get any of that with Naturally Chic. This lipstick does transfer, however, being that it’s not a matte, dry finish.
Like the rest of the other colors from her collection, Naturally Chic is only six bucks and for that price, it’s definitely worth it! This is gonna permanently have a space in my nudes and natural lipstick collection.

By now most of you already know that I’m a frequent Milani lipstick user and I recently purchased the color Sweet Nectar from Milan’s Color Statement Collection to do a review, and I have to say that it’s popping! Get it on Amazon.
Milani describes it as being a bright orange but on my skin tone it’s more of a true orange, compared to my MAC’s Lady Danger which is like a coral orange with a matte finish. On lighter or fair skin tones it will probably look more like a bright orange.
This orange lipstick went on easily in one easy swipe. It’s a fresh and flirty color that will give all your other summer lipstick shades a run for their money. It’s creamy and very pigmented with a matte like finish. What I noticed throughout the day as my lips got dryer, since the lipstick is not very moisturizing, is that it settled on those dry areas which was kind of annoying. That happened after about 4 hours of wear, though, which to me is a decent time to remove and apply a fresh coat.
Guys, there are a ton of colors in this collection that you’ll be sure to find one that you like. So far I have the shade Naturally Chic, which I’ll do a review on later, and do plan on getting more shades. I always have a hard time choosing without buying everything so I settled for an orange shade just because it’s summer time and wanted a fresh new color to brighten my outfits. For six bucks a piece, I’m sure that you’ll be able to find an amazing color in the collection for yourself. You should check them out.

You guys may have noticed from some of my past posts that I literally live in Milani. Not only is the packaging expensive looking but the quality of the product is great for being a drugstore brand lipstick.
Left to right: Milani Matte Confident 67, Milani Matte Orchid 64 and Milani Matte Diva 63
Milani is also made in the USA so I know that the ingredients are gonna be safe on my lips compared to other brands that are made in a foreign country. I tend to pair the Matte Orchid and the Matte Diva with a lot of bright yellows and greens in my wardrobe. They just make everything pop.

I reserve the Matte Confident for my mostly neutral colors like grey, white, tan and black, but it pairs well with brownish, copper colored clothing as well.

Does the thought of finding a lipstick that will compliment your skin scare you? If you’re feeling hopeless about the situation then fear no more. We’ve all been in that same situation where we’ve purchased lipsticks only to find out that they do not go with our skin tone. You’re either looking too washed out or you’re looking like a clown. So what do you do?
It’s been proven that bold and bright colored lipsticks compliment darker skin tones really well. Dark skin can range from an olive skin tone to a dark skin tone, so if you’re ready to give up the guessing game then follow these guidelines.
- Choose lipsticks that fall under the category of dark reds, corrals, fuchsia and purples. These colors are bold, daring and exciting to wear. Anyone can easily pull it off if done the right way. You don’t even need a fully baked face to pull it off. Normally bold lips are paired with very minimal face and eye makeup so as to make your lips pop. Well, after all, that’s the point! to make those lips pop. In my opinion, it takes a lot more effort to pull off a neutral color lip as opposed to a bold lip.

2. If you’re a bit hesitant about jumping in to wearing bold, dramatic lipsticks then test the waters first with something more subdued like a matte coral or orange color before breaking out the brighter shades.
Wearing a less dramatic Wet N Wild lipstick in the shade Salsa Lessons.
This way it’s still adding a color pop to your face in an understated kind of way. You can also build up on the color and add a shimmering lip gloss as you get more confident.
So I’ve been trying to hold off on buying new lipsticks for a while until I can use up what I already have. With that said, I can get bored with wearing the same lipsticks quick so I’ve been trying different ways to make wearing my old lipsticks more fun.
Okay, so let’s get to it. I wore my Milani Matte Confident 67 and wanted it to be of a little lighter shade so I applied a topcoat of my Maybelline Totally Toffee 215 which lightened it up and resulted in a slightly brownish nude lip color. It was a completely new lip shade and it was totally free.
Not only does this help me to keep some change in my pocket, it’s fun and exciting to see what new shades your old lipsticks can bring forth.
Leave a comment and let me know what shades you’ve combined.
Everyone has been raving about fuchsia lipsticks this season and here on my list again is Milani’s Matte Orchid, an intense pink shade of flirty fun. It’s very inexpensive and has a “moisture matte” finish to it that makes it not as drying as my Flat Out Fabulous by MAC. It lasts for about five hours on my lips and still leaves a stain after you take it off so you might need a little lip scrub for complete removal.
I’ve really been into Milani products lately and I’m very excited to see what they come up with next. Their colors seem to really compliment my skin tone which will definitely make me a returning customer, plus I think the packaging of their lipsticks is very sexy with the reflective gold finish. There are times when I’m not looking for a specific lipstick so what I do is pick out a lip liner first and get inspiration from that to choose on a lipstick shade. It’s the same as picking out your shoes first and getting inspiration from your shoes to put the rest of your outfit together. So, recently I was at Wal-Mart and went through the beauty aisle – of course, and the Milani 12 Lip Liner caught my eye. I’ve just started trying out Milani lip products and actually liked them so this was another opportunity for me to try another lip product.
After I got my lip liner I then searched for a fun lipstick shade that I could possiblypair with it and I ended up with Almay 120 with a medium-red shade. I was so excited to put these two lip shades together and was impressed with the results. These two shades had my lips puckering in berrylicious style.
This is one of my favorite lip liners to use when I’m wearing any brown or red shade of lipstick. It glides on smoothly and lasts for a long time to keep your lipstick from bleeding on to your face – that is never a good look ladies. I’m very new to trying Milani products and so far this one is a keeper for me. I used this lip liner a lot during the winter season for my darker lipsticks.
