Spring is here and so is fresh faced, glossy makeup. It’s about that time of the year to put aside all of your heavy makeup and dark lipsticks make room for more lightweight and youthful lipsticks.
I’ve mentioned time and again that wet N Wild is one of my favorite drugstore brands not only because of how cheap they are but their quality are often some of the best.
Their Megalast Liquid Catsuit High Shine Lipsticks have been raved about a lot but I had mixed reviews on them.
They are packaged in the Wet N Wild signature clear tube with 0.20 oz of product which is pretty decent I would say.
These are also available in a variety of different colors but I wound up picking out four of the colors just so I could test them out first before I went all crazy, which is what normally happens.
I found that the formula has a thicker consistency with a very faint scent. It has the thickness of a lipstick but the high shine effect could easily make it pass as a gloss. It’s very similar to Ulta Beauty’s Patent Shine Liquid Lipstick.
The formula makes for a very hydrating lip but i found that the consistency of the pigmentation was not the same throughout the colors that I got. The darkest color that I got Late Night Done Right was not as pigmented as the other colors and went on a little bit streaky. It also emphasized my fine lines and cracks quite noticeably which of course I did not like.
As much as I wanted to really like these lipsticks, I found out that they were a little bit too high maintenance as they easily bled and even got on my teeth.
Though the formula is of a thicker consistency, it slipped very easily out of the lip line which would honestly decrease my confidence in wearing them. These would definitely need a lip liner to help secure the product on the lips and prevent it from bleeding or feathering.
Now let’s get into the swatches:
Berry Down Lo
This is a gorgeous mid purple shade that swatched beautifully on my skin tone. This would be a great color that you would sport during the Spring and Summer months.
Wine is the Answer
This color had a more berry undertone that is not exactly Spring and Summer ready but I guess there are no rules when it comes to makeup. It would make a beautiful shade for all your Fall inspired makeup looks, however.
Bad Girls Club
What I love about this shade is that it is fresh and flirty. The coral/red undertones are perfect for the Spring weather to pair with your floral outfits.
Late Night Done Right
This is the darkest shade from the bunch and was also my least favorite. Not because of the dark moody color but it just applied a little bit too streaky and didn’t deliver on the pigmentation.
I would say that the degree of stickiness on a scale of 1 to 5 was about 5. Despite how thick the formula was, I honestly did not find them to be as sticky as others.
These lipsticks run for about $4 so they are definitely worth a try it if it’s something you’re considering. You won’t be missing out on a whole lot if you end up not liking the product.
