Essence is a fairly new brand to me as it’s not one that is often talked about on blogs and on YouTube so when I saw these on Ulta’s website I decided to try them out.
These are the Essence Tint & Colour Shot that were available in four different shades on the website: Pink Happiness, Classic Simplicity, Flowery Breeze and Powerful Perfection.
Cost – $3.99
They come in the cutest little compact glass-like container with the vibrant colors clearly visible. These shot of colours, just as the name describe, leaves the lips with a long lasting tint or stain.
The soft doe foot applicator makes for precise application to create that perfect pout. When first applied the shade gives off a very bright hue that eventually settles into a subtle tint.
This is more of a coral shade when first swatched but gradually darkens into a berry shade.
It also gave me an almost ombre look because at first I might have applied a bit too much product where the outer edges of my lips started to darken and tint first before the inner parts of my lips.
Classic Simplicity tends to lean more on the burgundy, wine color that will make a great tint for the Autumn days.
This was my favorite shade from the four mostly because I’m naturally drawn to fuchsia shades with more of a vibrant pink.
As you can tell, this shade definitely popped the most and complimented my skin tone well.
Powerful Perfection was the darkest shade from the four swatching as deep plum that make great vampy and dramatic looks.
By the time I got to this shade my lips were already terribly stained from the first three shades. I’m not used to very dramatic lip shades but this color was stunning. It would definitely not be my first choice but I wouldn’t be mad if I did wear it out.
These lip tints are great, especially at that price point. The hardest part for me was actually removing the lip stain. I was never able to get one shade completely off from my lips while taking photos of my swatches so it was difficult for me to actually tell the true color of these shades as they dry.
- Long Lasting Lip Stain
- Soft Matte Finish
- Small and compact which makes it easy for travel
- Very budget friendly
- Because it’s a tint, it’s not full coverage
- Quite difficult to remove from the lips (which in some instances may not be a bad thing)
Thinking about trying them? Find them here at Ulta.
